Terraforming-M [2019]
Fascinated by the concept of interplanetary life, Rotor’s AV performance “Terraforming-M” follows the journey of humanity bidding farewell to earth to become an intergalactic species. Whilst the expanded cinema performance is conceptually based on space travel, the composition of the piece follows a very abstract line. Going from non figurative visual patterns to images of planetary landscapes accompanied by synthetic layers of sound, the piece evolves into an immersive field of smoke, light and abstract phonic structures.
Rotor is an experimental audiovisual project by Joris Strijbos & Eelco Ottenhof and Terraforming-M is a Klankvorm commission made possible with the support of Creative Industries Fund NL and the City of Rotterdam.
HYPERPLANAR
Featuring an inventive new laser system, Matthijs Munnik’s performance piece Hyperplanar is a live audiovisual exploration of three-dimensional volumes sliced into two-dimensional planes of light. Sounds complicated, right? Well it is, and the results are spectacular – the system has several precision controlled lasers that scan around at high speeds creating hologram like shapes. This new tool becomes the starting point for compositions and live improvisations developed on and for the system itself.
